It’s all about timing, I guess. It’s been a busy year and we’ve seen a couple of brands pop up locally or brands redefining their position in the sneaker landscape. Pony’s been here for a while, although we’ve never really seen them create much noise (save for the Pony ‘Let’s Get It On!’ sponsorship on BTV during NBA games over the past couple of years). As I was doing my routine sneaker run, I was actually surprised to see these on the shelves– the atmos x Pony Slam Dunk ‘New York State of Mind’ Pack.
Inspired by the city’s ‘we tell it how it is’ attitude, atmos worked on creating the Slam Dunk in two colorways, one in ‘Big Apple’ Red and the other in ‘Statue of Liberty’ Green. Both pairs are done in soft premium suede while sitting on vulcanized gum soles. Nods to the city are seen with the printed insoles the customized tongue tags. The pack was initially released last April in Atmos New York while the rest of the world got them in waves since last June. A limited number of pairs of the ‘NY State of Mind’ Pack are still available at the Complex Lifestyle Store and retail for Php 4,995. So if you’re still looking for something to wear this holiday season, these NY-inspired Slam Dunks are a fit.
